Writing challenge: "I'm happy to announce..." 🎉

Welcome to the free writing challenge I provide as a lil nugget to understand what I'm providing through my newsletter I'm happy to announce.
If you wanna sign up, you can do it below (or if you're already a subscriber of Amalia's thoughts, you can access it through your account while logged in). I'm happy to announce is a paid newsletter, worth a coffee a month.
I see these writing challenges as a way to make yourself think outside of the box. In need of some inspo? Then one of my previous posts below can guide you right.
This writing challenge is kind of meta since it's also the name I very quickly (after 1 minute of ideation) gave this newsletter. Because whenever I think of what the most common LinkedIn posts consists of, it's posts starting with "I'm happy to announce...".
The art of the announcement is... tough. Easy to overthink. But also: very straight forward.
So let's dig into it!
Writing Challenge: "I'm happy to announce..." 🎉
Have you recently landed a new gig, whether big or small, non profit or for profit? If it's something that the LinkedIn algo LOVES it's announcement posts.
LinkedIn is, still, first and foremost a job platform. So of course they love to promote that people are searching for, or landing, new jobs.
When you write your announcement, pleade, don't make use of LinkedIn's own, but dare to challenge yourself to write something that's from the heart. It will shine through that you put some effort into it (which LinkedIn's own don't), and also it's a way for you to tell your story.
As you write, consider these angles:
✨ What drew you to this new role or organization? Share the story and what resonated with you.
✨ Are there any colleagues, mentors, and supporters who have empowered you along the way? Give them some credit!
✨ If relevant, touch on important issues or causes that you're passionate about and how this role aligns.
✨ Close with a call-to-action, whether that's an invitation to connect, follow the company on LinkedIn, or a comment about what's next.
It can be long if you have lots to say, but a shorter one works just fine. The most important thing though? Don't use "I'm happy to announce". Please.
Why? It looks generic. It doesn’t show any part of… you. And, it’s easy to scroll by.
The key, I believe, is to strike the right balance of professionalism and personality. The announcement can open up doors you didn't know were shut (such as people finding their way to you), but is also a great opportunity to share your voice and excitement.
Ready, set…
Craft a 100-400 word long text sharing your new achievement. Take 5 minutes and write whatever comes to mind.
Then, take a moment to read through your text afterwards. Revise and edit it if you like it, or leave it if you don't.
Either, save it for another day. Or if you feel confident in posting it on e.g LinkedIn - try!
Bonus: add another picture than the gif LinkedIn gives you. Maybe a selfie, or a picture with the team, or company logo?
I'd love if you shared your text as a comment, or DM on LinkedIn! ❤️
It got: 190 reactions, 8 comments, unknown impressions (didn't track back then)
Finally - this is my first day at Mpya Digital!! ✨ Dream come true to keep developing within client relations and building and developing the tech sector! 😍
